A DFPS worker's love and compassion can't be explained to mere mortals.  There is little money, long, sad days and stresses that most of us will never know the half of. Most of the parents who lose their children are often either neglecting them or abusing them. The investigators have to go into the homes and decide what would be best for the children. If they decide to take the children often there is a fight. The child has only known one kind of life and do not want another. Then a worker is assigned to help this child find a better home or family who will watch out for their needs as if they were their own.

These unsung heros are often griped at and pushed away by the very ones they are trying to help. Then, there is the bond that forms. The children come to love and trust their workers.

Why we need you:

Every time a volunteer is recruited and trained, new community members are introduced to the issues of adoption and foster care, thus building a constituency of people who understand and care about these problems. Each volunteer gets to know families first hand, and consequently cares more about the problem because people care much more about people than about statistics.
