Quotes from youth pertaining to
adoption:
The following piece was written by a foster child
named Anna during 1993 and is titled:
Imagine
Imagine being taken away from your parents.
Imagine being put with people you didn't
know.
Imagine listening and obeying people who were
not your real parents.
Imagine that.
Imagine being put in different homes every
year and leaving new friends.
Imagine living with other children you didn't
like.
Imagine that.
Imagine seeing your mother once a month for
two hours.
Imagine starting to love your temporary
parents.
Imagine calling them Mom and Dad.
Imagine that.
The following quote comes from Abby (age
12) when she was told by her CPS caseworker that she would be adopted by a Lena
Pope Home foster family she had come to know while placed with Lena Pope Home:
"This is the happiest day of my life."
When thinking about having adoptive parents
one day in the future, Cindy (age 12), who now resides in a Lena
Pope foster home, said: "My life will then be
complete."
When placed with a Lena Pope foster family,
Stevie, age 5, said on the first day there: "I'm going to live here
forever." He got his way. Sixteen months later, his foster
family adopted him. When referring to his family today, Stevie
reports: "This is my real family." Thanks from the Lena Pope Home
